Braud & Quennesson unveils its first VO

Braud & Quennesson VO

A new addition to Braud & Quennesson’s permanent range: a VO.

Made from «roseau» cane harvested on the Fond-Poterie and Palmiste plots, this rum is a blend of rums aged for 3 years in ex-bourbon oak, new French oak and ex-cognac casks, then bottled (in new engraved bottles with new stoppers) after 9 months of slow reduction.

Tasting note provided by the producer: Nose: indulgent and pastry-like, dominated by browned sugar, pecan vanilla and a very fine woodiness, all accompanied by a lovely freshness and subtle citrus and orange notes. On opening, aromas of praline, toasted hazelnuts, mocha and nutmeg. The cognac, though a minority, plays an important role in the VO’s aromatic depth and complexity: notes of fig, cooked fruits, marmalade and currants. Palate: the attack is soft and the texture generous. The retro-olfaction confirms notes of caramel, vanilla and sweet spices, with vinous notes of stewed fruits. A fine, complex and elegant rum.
