It has become one of the highlights of the year: the Rumporter editorial team reveals its favorite rums of 2025. Whether tasted on site, at a trade show, in a bar, or at home, these rums have inspired us and left a lasting impression. Some were launched in 2025, others before, but all are worth trying. Mount gay Single Estate Release 25_03_Vt24CF – Barbade

Mount gay Single Estate Release 25_03_Vt24CF - Barbade

I was about to live a dream come true, tasting a white molasses rum bottled by a major historic brand. I was almost terribly disappointed because, despite the beautiful notes of green olives, licorice, and even sugar cane, the alcohol was too strong. Then I asked to change glasses (it was served in a wine glass) and pour the precious liquid into a spirits tasting glass… Phew! The alcohol evaporated and the roundness and smoothness took over. So, well done to Trudiann Branker for this rum, whose sugar cane and molasses come 100% from the estate and whose fermentation lasted nine days. We can’t wait to see what Mount Gay’s great whites will bring in the future!

Carnival Sun Juice – Single Cask Australie 2006 – Australie

Carnival Sun Juice - Single Cask Australie 2006 - AustralieThe brand launched by Joey Starr began with a selection of rums designed to appeal to as many people as possible. Mission accomplished, but we eagerly awaited the limited editions. And we were not disappointed! Especially with this molasses rum distilled in pot stills in 2006, aged on site in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled in 2024. It is a veritable aromatic festival that assaults our nose and palate. Exotic fruits and citrus notes come to the fore, followed by woody notes (toasted oak) and those characteristic of molasses rums (vanilla, licorice, cocoa, etc.). We can’t wait for more!

Neisson – Profil Équilibre – Martinique

Neisson - Profil Équilibre - Martinique

A new “Profil Équilibre” that, like last year, won me over. This edition is the result of a unique blend of equal parts Profil 107 and Mizunara oak. The bottle’s design is once again by Caribbean artist Carole Aurore, offering magnificent works to collect… but above all to taste!

Longueteau – Cuvée Excellence Rhum – Guadeloupe

Longueteau – Cuvée Excellence Rhum - Guadeloupe

An unprecedented collaboration between Longueteau and Excellence Rhum has given rise to an agricultural white rum. This single-varietal cuvée, made from red cane from plot no. 9, harvested and distilled in March 2022, reveals all the richness of its terroir. After two years of aging in stainless steel vats on the estate, the rum is bottled at 64% ABV, offering both power and finesse.

Père Labat Tatanka – Marie-Galante

Père Labat Tatanka - Marie-GalanteNow let’s head to Marie-Galante with this 5-year-old rum from the Poisson distillery (aged in ex-bourbon barrels). It has notes of dried fruit, exotic fruit, fresh cane, and cinnamon. It is surprisingly smooth for an agricultural rum, thanks in particular to its moderate alcohol content (42%). And to top it all off, the bottle, handmade by Ateliers Tatanka in Martinique, has a beautiful vintage look.

JM Canopée – Martinique

JM Canopée - Martinique

JM Canopée agricultural rum is dedicated to the employees and artisans who worked at the Fonds-Preville distillery in Martinique. JM Canopée is an aged AOC agricultural rum from Martinique, with an alcohol content of 46%. It is a blend of 6-year-old rums, column-distilled, tropical-aged and with a complex aromatic palette of smoked wood, dried fruit and sweet spices such as cocoa and cinnamon. It is a smooth rum despite its 46% ABV. Personally, I really liked it. I admit that I am a big fan of agricultural rums and, lately, I haven’t found anything that has surprised me, but this one did.

English Harbour High Congener Antigua

English Harbour High Congener Antigua

The second edition of the English Harbour High Congener series pays tribute to the art of rum making in Antigua. This single cask rum, aged for nearly 10 years, reflects the experimental spirit of the Antigua distillery and deliberately departs from the traditional Antigua style. Aging has given it a deep amber color and an exceptional range of aromas.

With a robust alcohol content of 62%, it is bottled at the natural alcohol strength of the cask. This is a rum for connoisseurs of the rum world; despite its high alcohol content, it is pleasant on the palate, very well finished and round, one of the best from this company, on a par with the legendary 1981 rum, a bottle of which I have treasured for 10 years.
