It has become one of the highlights of the year: the Rumporter editorial team reveals its favorite vintages of 2025. Whether tasted on site, at a trade show, in a bar, or at home, these rums have inspired us and remain etched in our memories. Some were launched in 2025, others before, but all are worth trying. Savana l’Absolu 2025 – La Réunion
Here is another unique creation that only the Saint-André distillery knows how to make. This 2025 edition of the Absolu series is a blend of agricultural rum, traditional sugar cane rum… and great aroma. In a way, it is the quintessence of what the brand does best. This is also the first time that the distillery has brought together its three worlds. This 10-year-old rum offers incredible complexity, being both smooth and full-bodied. With notes of red berries, nuts, rancio, and fine wood, we recommend letting it breathe a little before drinking.

Isautier – Cuvée anniversaire – La Réunion
An agricultural rum from Réunion aged for 18 years. In other words, a rarity (99% of rum produced in Réunion is traditional sugar cane rum). It was the least they could do to celebrate the 180th anniversary of the Isautier distillery in style. This 2006 vintage agricultural rum is the product of 18 years of tropical aging in a single French oak barrel. It is surprisingly smooth despite its 65.4% alcohol content, provided you sip it slowly. Despite its age and barrel aging, it has retained a vegetal attack, but this is followed by aromas of exotic fruits, waxed wood, cigars, and spices. It’s worth pondering at length, and bravo to Marie Ferrand, the cellar master!

Dos Maderas origen Thailand – Thaïlande
This is the first edition in a series of exceptional rums from different countries, created by Williams & Humbert with Dos Maderas rum. Born in Thailand and aged for 12 years in bourbon barrels in its homeland, it then underwent a second maturation in Jerez in the Williams & Humbert cellars. This is a limited edition of only 4,000 bottles, created for those who appreciate character and seek authenticity; made for explorers of flavors and collectors of distinction. Williams & Humbert was founded in 1877 by Alexander Williams and Arthur Humbert, and acquired by the Medina family in the early 1990s. Williams & Humbert is one of the most recognized and prestigious producers of wines and spirits in the Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Appellation of Origin. I really liked this rum and it really surprised me! It’s a rum that I recommend without hesitation, both for its design and for the excellent work done by Juan Jose Mesa, the production manager.

Carnival Sun Juice – Cuvée Marie – Martinique
Among the revelations of the beginning of this year, the “Cuvée Marie” by Carnival Sun Juice and Marie Tabarly stands out as a creation that is as luminous as it is inspired. Produced from the 2022 harvest at the Saint James distillery, this organic white rum captures all the freshness and liveliness of the cane. The bottle is adorned with Nicolas Ouchenir’s elegant signature. A rum that brings a breath of summer air all year round, to be enjoyed neat or in a Ti’ Punch.

Uruapan Charanda Blanco – Mexique
This is a particularly versatile rum. This Charanda (local rum) was made from sugar cane grown at altitude on red volcanic soil in the state of Michoacán in Mexico. Fermentation lasted 11 days. It benefits from two raw materials: cane juice distilled in a copper still and molasses distilled in a French alembic still. It can be enjoyed neat, where you can appreciate its notes of fresh cane, licorice, and exotic fruits (especially lychee), or used as a base for a cocktail. A wonderful discovery, even if we would have liked to discover it with a slightly higher alcohol content.

Ti Ced – Les délicats – Mangue Goyave
A liqueur that lives up to its name: Delicate. Ti Ced’s new range will appeal to those who prefer lighter alcoholic drinks, while retaining all the richness of flavor. A taste journey in a bottle, from Paraguay, the birthplace of rum, to the Caribbean, with the freshness of guava.
