The Bar 1802 of the Monte Cristo Hotel in Paris is no stranger to collaborations. The latest is with Mhoba, which presented us with a preview a few weeks ago of three new products of three new blends created by Morgan Ricci.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first is “Dant\u00e8s” from Nicaragua, a \u201cbrut de f\u00fbt\u201d that spent 14 years (the number of years Edmond Dant\u00e8s spent in prison in Alexandre Dumas’ Count of Monte Cristo after being denounced as a Bonapartist spy) in bourbon barrels in a tropical climate, followed by three years in a continental climate. A molasses rum distilled in columns with a 62% ABV content, it will surprise many.<\/p>\n

Let’s continue the journey with “Simbad” (one of the many pseudonyms of the “Count of Monte Cristo”) which transports us to Barbados and more particularly to Foursquare. It is a blend of rums distilled in columns (25%) and in pot stills (75%), a \u201cbrut de f\u00fbt\u201d aged for 10 years in the tropics and one year in France, it is also 62% ABV. The Foursquare markers are present, while distinguishing it from the distillery’s “traditional” rums.<\/p>\n

The saga ends, for the moment, in Jamaica, with the ‘Wilmore’ (Lord Wilmore in Alexandre Dumas’ novel). A 14 year old rum from Clarendon, distilled in pot still. Aged for 11 years in a tropical climate and three years in a continental climate, always in bourbon barrels, it is 63% ABV.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
