The \u2018grande dame of rum\u2019 treats us to remarkable vintages, but buying them also supports a good cause. With Caribaea and through a photo competition, she is committed to biodiversity and to Caribbean youth.<\/p>\n

It is not widely known, but since 2015, a portion of the sales of Chantal Comte wines has been donated to the Caribaea Initiative, an organisation that works to study and conserve the region’s biodiversity by training a new generation of local scientists and experts capable of taking action in the field, in their own territories.<\/p>\n

In just ten years of operation, more than 30 young Caribbean people from nine countries or territories have been able to obtain a master’s or doctoral degree in ecology or conservation biology.<\/p>\n

\nIn 2025, Chantal Comte and Caribea launched an international photo competition to mark the association’s tenth anniversary, with the aim of showcasing, experiencing and sharing the region’s rich wildlife. The first edition was an instant success, with several hundred photos taken across the Caribbean submitted.<\/p>\n

The 25 winning photographs, the top three of which received substantial prizes, will be exhibited throughout the region and internationally, while plans are already underway for the next edition of the competition.<\/p>\n
