The latest addition to this prestigious range, Hearts Collection 1998, has been available since June 2024. This 1998 vintage, aged for 25 years in Jamaica’s tropical climate, is the result of a collaboration between Appleton Estate cellar master Joy Spence and Velier owner Luca Gargano.<\/p>\n

19 out of 20,000<\/h2>\n

Out of 200,000 casks in the distillery’s cellar, these 19 American oak casks, selected by Joy Spence, gave birth to this cuv\u00e9e. Distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2023, this rum is distinguished by its 100% pot still Forsyths distillation, creating a \u201cHeavy\u201d character with a complexity and aromatic depth more typical of those obtained in column stills.
\nFor Joy Spence, \u201cVintage 1998 is very special, not only because of its age and incredible depth, but also because this new vintage pays tribute to one of the most cherished qualities of my career.\u201d She adds, \u201cHearts Collection 1998 faithfully reproduces one of the rare styles used in Appleton Estate Joy Anniversary Blend.\u201d This exclusive cuv\u00e9e will be available in a limited edition of 2700.<\/p>\n

Congeners:<\/strong> 995 g\/ HLAP<\/p>\n

Color:<\/strong> Amber with golden highlights.<\/p>\n

Nose:<\/strong> Intense and well-balanced, with rich aromas of spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, curry), wood and vanilla, dried fruit (prune, cherry, walnut), dried orange zest, evolving to tropical fruit (mango) and leather.<\/p>\n

Palate:<\/strong> Generous, ample and powerful, in line with the nose, with an even fruitier tendency towards pineapple and banana, dark chocolate, almond and coffee, with butterscotch sweetness and a hint of structuring bitterness and invigorating ginger.<\/p>\n

Finish:<\/strong> Very long and dry, on molasses, dried apricot, lime marmalade, tobacco, clove, date and a hint of smoke.<\/p>\n

Empty glass:<\/strong> Oak, vanilla, mango, smoked molasses.<\/p>\n
